GRAMS Gascoyne Outreach Service recently took to the streets of Carnarvon the Maxi Vax Van to encourage the community to get their Covid and Flu injections to keep the wider community safe. The Maxi Vax Van was stationed at the Mungullah Community Office car park on Wednesday the 20th of July between 11am and 2pm for which GRAMS ensured there was lunch put on for all patrons.
The Maxi Vax Van program was created to ensure that members of the Carnarvon community are protecting themselves and others from Covid-19 and the flu. Diane our ITC Coordinator and Marcella Trainee AHP door knocked throughout the streets of Carnarvon to encourage community members to receive their immunisations.
Following the community members receiving their injections, our ITC ALO Germaine and our admin and care officer Noleen were in charge of cooking lunch and sorting the barbeque for the community. WA Health donated the generous donation of $40 gift vouchers for their next food shop at Woolworths as an incentive to get vaccinated.

Whilst the vaccinations were taking place, Kelly TIS was handing out bags with educational resources on the prevention of smoking and the encouragement of quitting smoking to improve community health wellbeing.
Tailasa our specialist clinic admin officer assisted to complete due diligence and ensure that our clients were due for their vaccinations and there were no double ups. Diane and Marcella were also ensuring that safety measures were met whilst doing Rapid Antigen Tests on patrons. Whilst those events took place, our ALO Thomas, chatted with community members on the importance of the vaccinations and how it is protecting the wider community of Carnarvon.
Having GRAMS in Carnarvon on foot proved to be a successful experience in light of vaccinating people who need either a vaccination or booster shot to help protect themselves and others around.
