Last week the GRAMS TIS team and Deadly Cru team travelled down to Carnarvon to attend the Carnarvon Youth Festival and the 2-day Youth Forum. At the festival, our team provided giveaways and fun activities for the community, and the youth team set up an obstacle course where people had to make their way through the course wearing ‘drunk goggles’ – made to simulate how you see and react while you are drunk. Everyone at the festival had good fun.
During the festival, the TIS team met with some Carnarvon community members to discuss how the team can better promote the TIS message and how to engage with the community. The team received some very helpful feedback and great ideas which will be implemented over the next coming months.
On April 13th the team attended the Youth Forum and had the opportunity to bring new ideas and help support the youth in their development, education, and stopping rising crime rates. This is the first Youth Forum and Festival held by local youth leaders, where the focus is on making young people’s issues and voices heard.
Everyone at GRAMS would like to thank the community of Carnarvon and the Youth Working Group.
