Some of our staff from the Geraldton GRAMS team travelled to Mount Magnet last week to help deliver COVID-19 care packages to families in the local community.
The team also visited the Murchison Outreach Service clinic to discuss some of the upcoming activities.
GRAMS is working to provide health promotion programs in Mount Magnet to empower Aboriginal health services in rural communities.
Health Promotion Officer, David Batty said the launch of the programs will help to raise awareness about healthy behaviours and enable people to increase control over their health.
“Our purpose is to provide culturally appropriate resources and services to improve Aboriginal health and wellbeing.” – said David.
As part of this initiative, Murchison Outreach Service hosted a meeting to address improving Indigenous Australian healthcare access in remote WA.
Working with staff and external services, the team will be exploring various health promotion activities aimed at improving Aboriginal health.
The health promotion activities will focus on improving physical health, social and emotional wellbeing, child health, maternal health and tackling Indigenous smoking.
We’re looking forward to delivering health activities and initiatives to the Mount Magnet community soon.
