GRAMS Suicide Prevention Coordinator David Batty delivered another powerful Red Dust Healing workshop on Monday 21st of November at the Dalmacija Club in Carnarvon in partnership with the West Australian Football Commission. Members from the Warriors Football Club and Ramblers Football Club as well as community men attended the Red Dust Healing workshop. Red Dust Healing is a cultural-based program aimed at improving mental health awareness among men. The program is designed to empower and equip men with the tools they need to address the issues that are important to their own lives and deal with any persistent patterns of negative behaviour. Local community members were encouraged to share their stories and confront the areas in their lives that are affecting their mental health, including drug and alcohol, relationships, family violence, grievance and loss, stress and anxiety, anger management, education and social issues, as well as impacts of colonisation. Participants were asked to express their feelings and discuss their views in a culturally safe space without stigma. A big thank you to the men that attended the workshop.
